A Kite

I
                                                  Wish
                                               I could fly
Like a kite in the sky.
                                     Because each time I see
A kite, it reminds me of freedom.
Each time I see a kite, it define a free bird.
I wish I could fly like a free bird, I wish I could fly
To the skies that heart desires. I wish I could
Fly to the town, where my heart belongs
I wish I could fly like a kite, to a
                                   Sky where I could express
                                       Freedom and Liberty
                                            I wish I could
                                               Fly a kite
                                                   In a
                                                  clear
                                                   Sky.

I wrote this piece remembering my childhood life as a refugee.

This is wonderful the way you made it into the kite shape as well, very creative and with a special message. Which country are you a refugee from?

Andrea, i was born in kurdistan of Iraq (North Iraq). It was in 1988 when Saddam Hussien"s regime started the Anfal campaign of killing kurds in Iraq. That is when my family had to leave Kurdistan to a saftey. We end up in United Nation's High Commander for Refugee Camps in Pakistan. I was 6 at the time, and when we left the refugee life I was 16, my entire childhood life :(
