A Humble Prayer

If I would humbly pray beyond The greed of my own wants And ask the Lord to please respond With His will to always be done I believe I would have a chance To worship in a way He accepts In a genuineness that would dance As David once sent up his praise If I could ask the Lord to bless Another precious soul in need I wouldn’t have to take a guess At the joy He would send to me I believe His unconditional love Follows the authentic petition Of one who knows to speak of Someone else’s hopes and needs If I might acknowledge His gifts The ways He sends me blessings Giving thanksgiving that shifts My heart toward His own purposes I believe He would answer the appeal With mercy, grace and assurance That the answer He is giving as I kneel Is one that is perfectly agreeable If I were to venture toward worshiping With praises that ring truer each day There isn’t a doubt the eternal King Would bless my every supplication I believe that I can do God’s will Through praying with a generous spirit Toward the many who He would instill A spirit of hope, faith and love without conditions.
