A Hitchhiker's Guide To Sleeping

It's so very visceral Looking in to the darkness Unable to find sanctuary Your body is weary Your eyes are heavy But your mind is racing Contemplating everything So you lay there Minutes stretch like hours Hours stretch like days And just when you're on the cusp of revelation You sow the seeds of doubt So you remain awake Even as the sun begins to rise It's agony but you slip out of bed And stumble into the bathroom Your body is weak Your thought process is slow None of the energy you had all night Seems to have followed out of bed But still you push on Because life waits for nobody But people wait for you So you have to be strong Life is just a masquerade ball So you wear your mask Everything's going to be okay And when it becomes too much You may find me For I am the Sandman Your eyes are heavy Your body is weary Your sanctuary is in my arms Slipping into darkness A hitchhiker's guide to sleeping

I could relate to this poem very much, love the form you put it in! This is a well written poem about pushing on, even though you feel like you can't go on. Really needed this right now. Thank you.

Thank you for reading! I have insomnia and woke up ungodly early this morning so it inspired this one. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
