i'm taking
baby steps
in becoming
a good father;
i'm on the climb
first a hill,
then a mountain;
that's the goal...
growing into
the type of parent
my late father
would be proud of...
a wonderful "girl Dad"
to Isabelle,
my toddler daughter.
will i be as good
as my old man?
well, time will tell.
i'm getting there, though,
with baby steps.
i'm on the climb;
first a hill,
then a mountain;
that's the goal.
i pray i will not fail!
my daughter, i hope
will grow taller than
her Mommy,
i dream of her
standing
shoulder to shoulder
with her future suitor
without heels.
by the grace of God,
i will raise my little girl to be
a strong woman,
a good woman,
a woman who commands respect,
a woman i'll be proud of.
i surely will face
a cavalcade of challenges.
the ascent
to the summit of parenthood
will be as smooth
as it will be rough.
in my long life journey,
i will make mistakes,
i will grow,
i surely will find out more
about her,
about myself.
with my blueprint,
i'm building...
a woman;
first a hill,
then a mountain.
that's the goal.
