A Heart Angelic
An angel has disappeared from heaven,
From a thorough search has emerged no clue,
A rummage through the realm mortals govern
Would show the angel residing in you.
For you are suffused with a grace divine
That over land and sea cannot be found,
Endowed from birth with a temperament fine,
By the twines of a petty soul not bound.
Your face in no sullen mood ever caught,
Nor those lips will innocent smiles desert.
Your mind not trespassed by a callous thought,
Each word uttered to comfort, ne’er to hurt.
Your countenance shuns all that’s prosaic,
For in your breast beats a heart angelic.
