A Hazardous Voyage
A HAZARDOUS VOYAGE
by
JOHN M. ARRIBAS
The ship is floundering, inept helmsman at the wheel
The captain is absent, intentionally fueling the ordeal
He roams the decks calling for patience and calm
His efforts not meant to extinguishing the qualm
Crew is restless, the lack of direction spells grief
Little or no confidence in the commander in chief
Crew members chaotic fragmented into groups
Defiance of law and order to which many stoop
Rhetoric divisive, demanding adherence to his will
Surely implanting the seeds for a future Bunker Hill
His only concern is preserving a fruitless legacy
Officers loyal to the ship quietly ponder mutiny
Time will prevail the captain soon to be replaced
The reins may go to a queen with a multiple face
The new course for the ship will remain the same
Corruption to flourish it’s the root of her game
There are few ports for this ship to find shelter
The current course a harbinger, an ugly specter
The reins may go to a crude fellow, a boasting man
His resume shows successful ventures proving he can
Commanding a ship is a totally different atmosphere
Diplomacy, skill, tact, required for all to adhere
The future is frightening with no time for remorse
We chose the right captain to alter the course
