A Happy Poem

I am to write a happy poem for a change
To enjoy the sunshine, not the rain
Going to try to be like others smiling
Enjoy some time, ignorant in bliss

Today I ignore what is wrong in the world
So many others less fortunate than me
They can wallow in their own troubled land
To far away for me to see

I will preach a message of love, of glee
A warm handshake for those that be
Happy in all of their daily tasks
Forgetting the world I will just think of me

Already I feel this discussion is flawed
As I walk alone along my street
Because all of the suffering is just as close
As the person begging on the floor by my feet

So until this world is healed of its woes
When mankind gives as well as receive
My writings will be dark and forbode
Of a time that struggles deep inside me
