A Hand

When you hold out a hand to a friend,
She or he may take it and hold it tight.
They may just walk with it, squeeze it
Or even place it elsewhere,
But it will make them smile.
They, in turn, know you care.

When you hold out a hand to a friend,
They may even kiss it soft and tenderly
Letting you know how much you are loved.
They might offer you their hand
With a smile and a wink
And say thank you, you do understand.

When you hold out a hand to a friend,
You completely show who you truly are,
The depths to which you will go.
They will appreciate all you do
Love you and be straight, always
And they will hold you, too.
