A Habit

I started to develop another habit.
Neither was it good or bad.
Then unexpectedly i grabbed it.
I was feeling so selfish and glad.

Neither was it good or bad.
All I wanted was continuous pleasure.
I was feeling so selfish and glad.
Once I am invited with no measures.

All I wanted was continuous pleasure.
Stopping was not a reality you see.
Once I am invited with no measures.
I couldn’t just let this habit take control of me.

Stopping was not a reality you see.
This sensation felt so unassuming at times.
I couldn’t just let this habit take control of me.
It’s so pleasantly here and dreadfully Unkind.

This sensation is so unassuming at times.
Then unexpectedly i grabbed it.
It’s so pleasantly here and dreadfully Unkind.
I started to develop another habit.

Oh, this is so true, is it not. You have written a poem which strikes all of us, I think. I especially like the fourth verse. Congratulations on your win in the pantoum contest.

Many of us have habit we wish we could shed, Lonnell. It's particularly scary when we think they are controlling our lives. But as you say, sometimes we break one habit only to assume another. Congratulations on your win! Best wishes, Carolyn
