A Great Challenge
A GREAT CHALLENGE
You’re facing a great challenge as you become the man
To lead our church from where we are to follow God’s commands.
The change is great, and in your flesh you’ll never fill the shoes
Of such a man as we have had whom now we’re going to lose.
But God does not expect you to be whom you cannot be,
He just expects your life controlled to serve Him faithfully.
As I have listened to the words and as I’ve watched your life,
I have no doubt that God will bless you and your lovely wife.
And as I’ve watched your two fine sons, I know they’re going to be
Two men who we will be so proud are in this family.
The days ahead will have their trials, the devil’s going to fight,
But I will pray for God’s great strength to help you do what’s right.
With Him in you and you in Him, the challenge can be met,
And we can have the greatest years to come in this church yet!
I’m confident that God’s great hand has molded you these years,
And you will face those challenges, those problems, and those tears
With total faith and confidence in the God you’ve come to know
Since way back then as just a lad when to this church you’d go.
For you’ve been trained here by a man with a heart that’s filled with love
And one who shows that he’s in touch with God who lives above.
I pray we all will not look down and notice any flaws
Or size you up with anyone who’s serving in God’s cause.
I pray as we go through these days of change that there will be
More miracles and mighty things take place in H. B. C.!
Dedicated to Rev. Tracy Fowler as he assumed pastorate of Heritage Baptist Church.
