A Glimmer of Hope

He stood
With head bowed
Aimlessly, his mind wandered
Within a crowd
He stood
Voices urged movement
From every direction
Came pleas and curses
He stood
Answering cries of pain
Brought more despair
Powerless
He stood
When out of the confusion
A great voice
Full of ageless wisdom
Called to him finally
A glimmer of hope
And with renewed strength
He stood
