A Future Prayer
Before the sun shall slowly set,
and the birds will cease their song.
Before night reclaims its darkest debt,
and the warmth of day goes wrong.
Before all colours lose their hue,
and before the stars are dimmed.
Before the night shall lay it’s dew,
and before the air is thinned.
I’ll pray to see the dawn again,
Implore my senses reunite.
To walk again in mans’ domain,
That my dreams will soar in flight.
I’ll pray for paths of constant true,
To never stray my way past sin.
I’ll pray for love and say thank you,
Moving forwards, as new days begin.
Then as the dawn will slowly rise,
Your gift of light shall warm my soul.
I’ll pray you’ll choose to make me wise,
Before through prayer, you make me whole.
