A Fugitive Bride
Her parents had died, she was a new bride,
Married to a man she thought was right,
She dreamt of a life full of love and care,
But she was abused and lived in a fright.
Confined to four walls, lost her freedom,
A savagely treated slave, but without chain,
Oppressed she was, with bruises all over,
She tried to stay strong, and hid her pain.
She sensed the trap, false promise of love,
As she was never loved, appreciated as wife,
One dark night, she tried to pretend sleep,
And planned to runaway from her ugly life.
She stole some cash and her wedding ring,
In the middle of the night tiptoed and left,
Complaint was logged at the police station,
Not for missing person, but about her theft.
No one will understand ordeal of her side,
Now she is being named as a fugitive bride.
