A Friend Like You
“A Friend Like You”
In my life
I have met many people.
Some stayed strangers,
Some I kept at a distance,
Some I loved too much,
Some I loved too little.
I cannot say
I made no errant judgment,
And kept some out when I should
Or let some in when I shouldn’t.
After all,
I had only my heart to go on
And the heart is frequently a fickle judge.
So, when I doubt myself and the wisdom of my ways,
I realize I must have done something good.
Something so deserving and worthy
For God to grant me a friend like you.
