A Friend

Right now I don't need you to lecture me because,

I've already heard.

I need you to be a friend,

And shut up and listen.

I need you to understand

Because no one else does.

I need you to give me advice

Because no one else will.

I need you to know where I'm coming from.

Because right now that's what a friend would do.

But you turned up your nose

And told me I was wrong

And called me a name,

That a friend would never call a friend.

Well I guess that when

Real situations happen,

Real friends appear.
