A Forest Child

tree seen in forest
is one of many thousands
showing its branches
now to me, a forest child:
one needing Christ's redemption

------------------------------------------

The reason I like this tanka is because
of the pause for thought encouraged by
the phrase "a forest child", making
the reader wonder who on earth
this child was and what had happened
to make her feel that she needed
Christ's redemption above all.
