A Fool I Was All the Time

A FOOL WAS I ALL THE TIME

He was like coal
He was evil like Lucifer
He was a monster
And his name was Adam

One clever day l dumped him
The feeling was good
The result could not be crude
It was sublime, it was magnificent

Within a month came another Adam
He was chocolate in complexion
He was clean and smart
A thought passed through my mind
They are not the same
But it was just Adam with a different pigment
One clever day l dumped him also

Within a week was another Adam
He was tall and hip-hop fresh
He was kind and had a dream
Wasn’t l attracted?
Until one foolish day
My eyes fooled me
I thought he was different
But it was just Adam with a different height

I dug a pit and sow to myself
I will never in a million times be fooled
Didn’t my heart betray me?
Didn’t my heart make a full of me
Didn’t my heart pain me again?
Didn’t my heart fall in the ocean?
Just like that other Adam
Adam hurt me again...
Adam lied to me
Adam broke my heart again
Adam did it again
It’s always the same Adam.
