A Fool

A fool, I was

I fell in love

once on a time

a long time ago.

when I believed

it was real

I thought!

I thought,

I was allowed

the pursuit

let my heart.

To say, to speak

to express

my heart.

My thoughts

would run amuck.

I would never,

never!

dare the thought

again.

My heart waited,

A prison.

It is locked

it will not be set free.

See! Before I was a fool

I thought it could

it could

find it.

But now,

I put it away

in a secluded place.

But still,

still it would

sometimes think

think back on the love

the one it was mad about.

See! I was a fool

I know better

it would never

see the daylight ever.
