A Fly on the Wall
‘Satire is traditionally the weapon of the powerless against the powerful.’ – Molly Ivins
Compound eyes, sticky pads, and tiny claws
Does its existence have a moral cause?
It could grip rugged as well as smooth walls.
Even on a messy, muddy wall, it crawls.
It sits unnoticed: calm, quiet, and still.
Watching someone get caught provides a thrill.
Spying on others is its profession.
How blameless-looking is its expression!
Each newsmonger is a fly on the wall.
On the dirt of vices, like flies they crawl.
