A Father's Love
A Father’s Love
Who would deny a father’s love
That burns within a fevered breast?
My heart seeks mercy from above;
It’s empty now you’ve left the nest.
I wish you well upon your way,
Sweet child of mine with face so fair.
I’ll think of you ‘most every day,
To you I dedicate this prayer.
It is no sin for man to weep,
Emotions surely need to flow.
Pure love’s not lost if it is deep,
And all the sweeter to bestow.
My love endures, a love divine
So pure, and filled with equity.
Go forth with strength, dear child of mine;
I’ll love you for eternity.
