A Fatal Dose

She sent a fatal
dose of goodbye
minus the smile.

My lungs crawled about
in search of their next breath...
diluted, tearless emotions
showed cracks in the corners.

Honesty can be cruel,
brutal at best.
Imprisoned deception
was freed on good behavior.

We always said it would kill again...

Very, very, good! I have felt this and never been able to describe it - this poem certainly works for me ... CayCay
