A Families Christmas Thoughts

As kids we would lay in bed wondering,
Wondering what the next morning could be filled with,
filled with family or food or presents or candle lighting,
lighting of candles to lighting others hearts,
hearts beating when first family had arrived,
arrived from the days long trip...

As teens we lay upon our beds and think,
think of the cliche greetings to give the next day,
day 25 of the month meaning family and food with annoying kids,
kids running around and around like a figure eight,
Eight maids a milking... at least thats what they say
say can i go to bed its the end of the day???...

As adults we lay upon our bed for all but Tens of minutes,
Minutes we count down to so we can finally finish,
finish the placing of gifts or eating cookies,
cookies for santa or snacks for others,
others soon to arrive.. time flew by! oh brother
Brothers and sisters shaking us awake
awake we become for they just cant wait,
wait for them to get their hands on the gifts or food,
food arrives as well as family,
family reunion is about to happen
Happen as they finally begin unwrapping...

As Grandparents we lay upon our bed and think,
think back of the days of which are almost here,
here we are together with no fear,
fear of arriving to our son in laws late,
late bed time for us the night before,
before 5 PM we start to snooze,
snooze we'd hit if we were teens,
teens greet us as we walk in the door
door carolers and family and food galore...
