A Dying Dream
Above me float the wayward stars
Behind my glows the rising moon
Carefully I spread my wings
Doomed to fly to soon
Even as I lift in flight
Forgetting the warning thought
Gravity pulls me as I rise
Hope is dashed with that simple right
I will never fly
Just as I will never be free
Killing my hope and painfully weary
Lifting up my broken wings
My world is back to sturdy ground
Nothing but a shattered dream
Over me mocks the moon so round
Patience, the soothing stars sing
Quiet, the wind whispers to me
Ready for next time, I return home
Silent as the world around me
Timeless as the trees
Under the moon and over the earth
Vainly hoping to break my chains
Wishing for a dying dream
