A Dream Within a Dream
Beach shore entices me with its silence,
I dream I can walk above the waters,
the wind whispers and leaves a scud of foam.
I hug my solitude from a distance
some mythical god pulls me by the bend
a vision of two girls rips my senses.
One holds a red parasol, her wind-borne
whisper trails towards me, captures my mind,
fascinated, I watch as time stands still.
They are a painting of nymph-like maidens
goddesses of the sea in search of love
I am in a daze invading their world
I should walk away, like the tide that ebbs
and flows, carry the memory of them
to fade like an invisible mirage.
The sea glides along, spattered with the white
chevrons of wave caps, timeless but ever
changing, while I leave clinging to a dream.
