A Divided Soul
The night breaks and the moon turns to red,
Alone I sit in this room with you running through my head.
Once I find you my grasp slowly releases it's hold,
Another night goes by that I find myself alone.
I see you underneath it all
I see you hiding among the rubble
One day I will hold you until we are whole
My eyes are hiding you,
The windows to an undying friend.
My heart won't tell me what to do,
Maybe you will take over in the end.
In the rustling of the wind I can hear your scream,
Another night down when out of reach you seem.
Just beyond the horizon I see a blur,
Closer and closer to realize it's just my nerves.
In the mirror you elude me
Just behind what I consider is free
I force my eyes close to clearly see
