A Deafening Silence

When a silent bolt of lightning
thunderously streaks
through my pounding heart
A flash of darkness
sparkles like an echo
reverberating
in an over-filled void
and the emptiness
grows relentlessly
wrapping around me
like pervasive mist.

When this deadly silence
melts into rivulets and dissipates
into wispy clouds of nothingness,
The engulfing darkness
lights my way
and brings me
to the brink of an abyss.
