A Day In May

May 1st is observed as "Lei Day"
wholly o'er the Hawaiian isles,
garlands on hula dancers sway
as colorful flowers gift smiles.

Haku is a lei meant, "to braid",
opened ends with complex flowers
like the "Bird of Paradise", weighed
mass blends trim blooms crowning showers.
