A Day For Giving Thanksgiving

On November 28th a Turkey will land on your plate Mashed potato's and gravy and New York's parade Football watching while wife and mother cooking Sitting in the easy chair beer belly hanging over While little children laying in a hospital not knowing If they will see tomorrow, families living out of a car Children huddling for warmth in the back seat The old all alone cooking their Thanksgiving meal In a microwave Football game is over time to trim the Christmas tree but first, Hot apple pie with ice cream, Christmas carols heard Hanging lights outside watching children playing in the snow Our children will be pleased 10 presents apiece End of day watching the evening news: A hospital reports three children have died waiting for transplants A family has been found dead in their car from freezing weather A man in his eighties committed suicide with a note reading: My dear sweet wife I can no longer live without you, I am coming To heaven to be with you. Be Thankful this thanksgiving Day for what you have!

So, Bobby, how can you even dare to write poetry?! Don't you know that there are children starving in China?! (That's what my Mom told me in the 1950's, anyway. She wouldn't lie to me, would she?). Smiles, Gershon
