A Day At the Beach

A day at the beach

As the dawn breaks over the open ocean
the waves emulate one another as they reach the shore.

I see the colorful sun rising on the horizon
while the dolphins play after their morning feast.

Passing ships dot the scene desperate to reach their destination
crossing paths as they push forward.

A couple of people are starting to set up on the beach
women are laying towels out while the men drag big coolers.

I see kids running behind carrying buckets and shovels
they have white suntan lotion on their faces that looks like war paint.

As the sun gets higher as I sit on my balcony observing the day
watching the magic of happy families bonding.

I think of my own family and wish they could be there
growing with love and emotion.

You sure described the scene here well, Joshua and it sure gave a good contrast to missing your family-- I agree sad ending but also an engaging poem-- thanks for your wonderful comments :) -- nikko :)
