A Dance With My Daughter
Written By: D. Collins 12/5/18
If I could dance with my daughter, before I leave here.
I’d say how much I love her, right in her ear.
She is the essence of me, still upon this earth.
That look in the mirror, that gives me worth.
I know she will succeed with her lion’s heart.
And, I can rest in peace, knowing I played a part.
She is strong, independent, and shows much love.
A woman I would smile down upon from above.
After Nora’s experience, I decided to write this for you.
Knowing what you’ve achieved, after all you’ve been through.
I wanted to write this to you while I was still here.
And, note everything about you so crystal clear.
One day I won’t be here to tell you this anymore.
I am proud you’re my child, right down to the core.
I’d love to dance with my daughter while I’m still here.
Because, there’s no guarantee there will be a next year.
