A Creaky Sound

My eyes had been shut less than six minutes when I woke up to a faint dangerous creaky sound. Front door opening? Grandchild whine? Ominous whirr next to my ear. Mosquito or bee. Neither welcome. I woke immediately, Jumped away from the covers. Expecting a bite or a pinch. Neither happened. Listened harder. Neighbor’s saw meant no nap for me today. Or was it my imagination? Unsure, but safe now.
