A Corn Moon
At four twenty four this morning
I awoke with a mission ~ a yearning
My tummy so full of exotic butterflies
My telescope primed for viewing the skies
Venus ~ well she was sparkling
like the brightest diamond in the sky
A gentle shade of golden yellow
My favourite goddess I espy
Mars so red but far too high
to view through scope up to the sky
in prostrate pose I would need to be
if this red planet I want to see
Then seeing ISS fly past
a thrilling sight for sure
I left the very best till last
she makes my spirit soar
Today when farmers harvest hay
by the light of the new Corn Moon
Her beam so bright lights up the night
shines down on Mother Earth
For the Moon is looking her very best
dressed in her widest ~ brightest ~ girth
