A Constanza For Lothario

A ladies’ man, one of a kind,
to guileless females gave the eye
response highlighted by a sigh.

He had seduction on his mind
intentions hid behind a smile
he took them in with charming style.

Unwary victims he would find
their full attention swiftly grab
his forte was the gift of gab.

To love eternal he was blind
immersed he was in selfish aims
and boasted of Quixotic claims.

Fragmented hearts were left behind
betrayal tasted, bitter, vile
instead of walking up the aisle.

A ladies’ man, one of a kind,
He had seduction on his mind
Unwary victims he would find
To love eternal he was blind
Fragmented hearts he left behind.

I'm relieved that my mind wasn't playing tricks on me, Susan:) I too read Don Quixote many moons ago and would like to read it again, but time keeps running away from me! A glance at the clock tells me that another day is about to end...11.27pm. Warm regards // paul

Yes Paul, you are correct, thank you, it was a movie that my class went to see in a theater in Boston when I was in college - so many years ago and we read Don Quixote in high school too. I just loved it, especially when I saw the movie on the big screen! Though I would have to re-read the book again, as I only remember bits and pieces now.. but I do remember falling in love with the story. To dream the impossible dream.Oh I love that song!

I read Don Quixote when I was a teenager, and it very much caught my imagination! I believe that 'Man from La Mancha' was originally intended for tv, but I'm not sure. Thank you for enjoying my first attempt at this form, Susan. ~ Warm regards // paul
