A Cog In the Machine

It is designed to run smoothly,
It is made to work freely,
It goes on its course,
It moves on its path,
Happy it goes,
Excited it travels,
It possesses the required momentum,
Its engines have been fired up,
With time we hear squeaks and creaks,
Its motion is inhibited,
Its velocity recedes,
It is assailed by elements of distress,
Troubles and perplexities beset it,
It is over saddled with
 responsibilities and desires,
Anxieties take the reins,
Fear creeps in stealthy,
If these are not eliminated,
It comes to a stop,
The machine declines and dies,
Its purpose is fulfilled in a part,
Its intention is met in a piece.
