A Childs Silent Inflictions

A wafting thunder down deep with lost fragments of heart Ponderous and measuring, abandoned deep in the dark Nourishment degraded decaying love forever lost Damaged limb from limb life’s lonely bitter cost Taken by chase, a dragon’s breath allure Once innocent and sweet but no longer pure Absent loyalty unseats, the flame now takes hold This deadly flash of the tail, presently big and so bold Knowledge and wisdom now consumed by the beast A child yearning for freedom and life’s final feast Overlooked and neglected this youth now confined Silently lost in the shuffle, a writ left unsigned August 11, 2020 Inflictions Poetry Contest Sponsor: Silent One

A child should never have to go through such inflictions, yet so many do and that is a sad state of reality.. how cruel and disgusting some humans can be... Congratulations on your placement in the contest.

I am sure your wife's heart is broken at least once a day - there are so many homeless children and they suffer fear, heat, cold, hunger, shelter, hunger, I could go on forever. A very clever write Mark, the innocence of these children lost forever, leaning towards the beasts enslavement. Brilliant Mark, Blessings, Jennifer.

Sad...no child on this planet shoud be subjected to an unjust system...whether by family, people or by governments..Or one day our children will no longer be ours..to shape and love...

My wife is a social worker for foster care. I hear plenty of horror stories that these poor children experience

Innocence lost at a young age is a gift stolen, one that can never be replaced. I hope your poem is looked upon with favor, Mark.
