A Child's Darkness
Once more I'm sheltered under the bed
I hear his car outside
Sometimes I wish that I were dead
Then I wouldn't have to hide
So glad my little brother's not here
To suffer any pain
As I lie here feeling all this fear
That it will happen again
His footsteps sounding on the stairs
I squeeze myself in tight
Wondering why no one cares
Filled up with hate and spite
He enters my room and looks around
I know my fate is sealed
But still I'm making not one sound
So I won't be revealed
He finds me and he pulls me out
Then does his dirty deed
So numb that I can't even shout
I just lie there and bleed
He leaves me there when he's finished
To just feel sick and cry
My childhood brutally diminished
I'm left to wonder why
Why daddies are the cause of fear
And have no love to give
Wish I was never born,it's clear
I've no reason to live
Now this was long ago,you see
And I have come so far
Though I forgave and let it be
It still left me a scar
