A Champion

She was a champion
A warrior 
A fighter for the underdog
Queen advocate
We were in awe of her

She would jump into the fray
And fight battles 
Before the rest of us 
realized they were battles

She took on the wrong combatant
And wound up in the morgue
But not before she impressed us all
And helped us become the assertive women we are supposed to be.

Certainly they are not the ones who run with the crowd or mob, but those outstanding ones, the reasoners, those who will fight for what is right!
