A Calm Or Tempestuous Life

Rest yourself here where water lies calm
    still, you could fly
to perch on tempestuous cloudy bank
    perhaps to remain
safety a foreign ideal you’ve rarely felt

for you, comfort seems to come with upheaval
still, you could stay
in the quest to find who you might be
perhaps to entrust
that you are enough and worthy too

for I recall where your viridity began
still, life gives trials
People to test next to those to emulate
perhaps you’ll select
where you won’t go or who you can’t be

It is not how we act, it is how we react when others act; you have stated this well.

A very fine poem on youth, growing up and the many trials one must face. To walk a lit path or to walk with the world on its ever tempting darken path? We each must choose and then live with the consequences of that choice made. A fav...

Nicely written, Jeanne, growing up can be hard deciding who you are and what path you want to follow. As we age, it is so easy to look back and see the direction we took or maybe the direction we should have taken. My best to you. Hugs. John
