A Broken Heart and Sleepless Night

Round and round the world keeps turning
Mistakes I've made I keep on learning
My stomach aches with its constant churning
My heart despairs from this never ending yearning

The embers cold, my love keeps burning
But the love you had you're not returning
A love like this is well worth earning
But a love that you have trouble discerning

I didn't mean to cause you pain
Or cause your tears to fall like rain
Now one heart beats where once was twain
A loss my soul cannot contain

Now love is nothing but a calloused stain
Fading memories is all that remain
Not one time did you ever complain
Now the guilt I have drives me insane

What must I do to make this right?
A way that I can end this plight
Cant you see my soul's contrite?
But I fear no peace is near in sight

I used to be your heart's delight
But now your heart is filled with spite
I know this evil I did invite
A broken heart and sleepless night

This one tore at my heart strings, Larry. We look back and wonder how we can reverse negative outcomes, but it just doesn't work sometimes. I could feel the pain in this powerful monorhyme. Well done, my friend. Love, Carolyn

A nice rhyming without losing the contents or the theme, Larry
