A Blink of His Eye

A life is but the blinking of the Great Creator’s eye;
What we do with that short moment is the reason we are here.
The price we pay for living is he knowledge  we will die;
A life is but the blinking of the Great Creator’s eye.

God gives us just the time we need to get our wings and fly;
What happens is not always the way it would appear.
A life is but the blinking of the great Creator’s eye;
What we do with that short moment is the reason we are here.

Joyce, I have always believed we were put on this Earth to learn and that once we've learned what was intended, we "get our wings and fly" to heaven. Feeling this way helps me cope with loved ones' deaths. Regarding Brian's contest, I can't find where the winners are posted, but I am so glad your poem did well! Love, Carolyn

For sure, Joyce. Exactly my sentiments, but you've managed to package it so eloquently. Hats off to your wordcrafting skills. :-)
