A Blessing Not a Burden
A BLESSING, NOT A BURDEN
You’re a blessing, not a burden, to our pastor every day
You give him love and comfort when he has a trying day.
You give him time to study, to visit, and to pray,
Your favorite phrase CHOOSE HAPPY is what you often say.
I’ve been in many churches and every time I know
When a pastor’s wife’s behind him, for by this it will show:
When he doesn’t need to take time to murmur or to cry
About life’s cares and trials that bring tears to his eye,
When his preaching shows emotion, when his attitude is love,
He gets it from his help meet God gave him from above.
Your life is a reflection of how you overcame
The trials your life has been through and now you praise God’s name.
Each year we use October, a month so set aside
To thank the many pastors whose life our God does guide.
I MUST take this time also for someone so like you
To give appreciation for everything YOU do.
For thirty years and one now I’ve watched God use you here
To be that special blessing to our pastor we love dear.
This year has been MOST trying to everyone we know
Because of the decisions that must have hurt him so.
But you stayed right behind him, on live-stream you did sing
When we were not there present—your praise to God did bring.
I pray God showers blessing upon you now today
For being not a burden, but a blessing every way.
--fitting for any pastor's wife who supports her husband
