A Black Woman's Prayer

Dear God, I have a favor to ask
Because of where I’ve been.
I’ve been without for oh so long
Please give me peace within.

I’ve tried to do the best I can
But I’m beginning to feel some doubt.
Peace within would help me win
Because there is no peace without.

You’ve given me talents I have not used.
The tools are in my hands.
But I am without peace within
And no one understands.

I’m a woman alone in a world you made
Ruled by rich white men.
There’s a message I’d like to give them.
All I need is peace within.
AMEN

Peace lies in the eye of the storm. If it isn't whites, it is something else, but you have done a great job of expressing your sentiments . . .
