A Big Bowl of Things

A Big Bowl of Things

I gulped down a big bowl of soup,
I could've sworn it had assorted letters of poems
that spelled villanelles and palindromes!
It was funny...
'cause when I gulped down a big bowl of stew,
I could've sworn I saw the meat and taters
dance around my stew to limericks and clerihews,
with amusing rhymes clinging to my suppertime thymes !
It was funny...
'cause when I gulped down a big bowl of chili
I could've sworn I saw a sonnet and sestina
So I told the nurse ~ she said, "That's silly !"
"You may have seen an amusing rhyme clinging to your suppertime thyme,
since you were given an extra med, is why these pictures are in your head!"
"Good thing we caught it,: it was close-we will next time reduce your dose."
