A Better Country

Why on earth
would I subject myself
to cramped planes
and ridiculous prices
to travel the world
a tourist
herded like cattle
to sample the fake and the facade?

On that day
when we are raised
will we not be privy to
a new heaven and a new earth
perfect in every way
and possessed of all of eternity
to explore?

My little corner of the world
humble though it may be
surely possesses more marvels
designed by my Creator
than I can ever get enough of
in this life.

Indeed, I do long for a better country
but that is for a future time.
I find the boundary lines
that have been placed for me
in the here and now
exceedingly pleasant
and I am content to wait
to see the world made new.

I enjoyed traveling while I could, but I am content to stay at home and enjoy Hawaii now. My husband was 6’3” and did not like being cramped on planes. Our last trip together in 2013 he took us first class for the leg room. I can totally relate to your poem. With your height it must be even more difficult. Have a great week. Blessings xxoo

Who is rich? ~ He who is content with what he has (and where he is, may we add). Enjoyed your muse, Jeff. Thanks, gw (Soup mail, please)

I like your poem, but, I do like to travel. Travel broadens my perspective...but, I saw the U.S.A. first. I have visited every state except Alaska. I doubt that I'll ever make it up there. It's too cold most of the time! My next planned trip is to Japan, Vietnam, and possibly Thailand...thinking about it in January. Wanna come along?

Alaska is beautiful. We did the inland passage cruise and an overland bus and train trip. Cruise was nice, could have skipped the bus. Being 6’6” and about 240, the long flights are just too hard.

So, true, little corner of the world possesses more marvels designed by my Creator than I can ever get enough of in this life. Blessings
