A Beguile Ladder
I was soaring high and still higher up
climbing the ladder of love
I wished I could stay forever at the top.
sleepwalking uphill beyond control,
in a dream that was no longer mine
I was in a world, where each day was Valentine.
With your hand to hold, with your lips to kiss, .
shoulders of trust, I climbed in zeal of thine
far away from the chaotic crowd below,
I believed deep, every word you said was right.
Did the ladder catch fire?
Or did a shovel dig the ground?
Did the wall hate it leaning?
Or the rainstorm got it drowned?
Before I knew, I was back on my foot
studded hard to abyss of the ladder.
Heart all cracked, holes all over.
They said, it's nothing, move on with a smile.
But perhaps my smile I left at the top....
still tall and strong,........ a ladder beguile.
