Carole Duet Poet Couplet

A Bed of Nails

Life is like a bed of nails.

Just about the time you think you can rest,
  someone comes along to steal your nest.

Just about the time you think you'll make it,
  someone comes along to take it.

And when you think you'll slow down a bit,
  someone brings you a load of ****!

Then you think you've found "the one",
  just to find out it was just for fun.

Why is it always true
  that trouble seems to stick like glue?

And no matter what you do
  it inevitably comes back to you.

So don't sleep too long or too sound
  'cause trouble's always hanging 'round.

Stay alert and sleep light,
  and always be ready to fight!
