A Beaten Man

He’s a beaten man
His shoulders rounded
From the throes of life
From disappointment
To disillusion

His eyes sunk and sallow
His voice weak and hollow

His joy long lost
Along with everything else
That makes life worth living

He’s given up
Can’t take any more
But still standing
