A Battle Lost
Where, oh, where does our anchor lay?
Is it in the joy of a coming day?
No. The strength we seek is protected
By a fortress that has been erected.
We must battle for it at every hour,
And in victory shall it give us power.
But if we win by only nail and fang,
'Twill have been better to lose, and swiftly hang.
Because the will to survive is in constant struggle,
And the voice of reason we must always juggle
