A Battle Cry and a Prayer

In a world that has lost all control,
Where the enemy tirelessly battles for our souls.
We must continue to cry out to God day and night,
Let His strength shield us through this fight.

The battle rages but so many just do not see,
As ancient prophecy is filled, where will you be?
America once the lighthouse of all nations,
Now no longer the leader of hope and salvation.

We are ripping apart seam after seam,
Where children wander the streets, lost, lonely, and giving up all hope on ever achieving
their dreams.
At one time such a cornucopia this country God blessed and was the envy of all,
Then we thought we no longer needed our heavenly Father, so goes pride before the great fall.

We must stand united against these forces, and ask God to lead us again,
And bow our heads and ask for forgiveness for this country so riddled with sin.
Shine His light once more and let it burn through all the muck and the mire,
And let us once again live up to His standards and every desire.

Love the message in the last stanza. I think people are starting to rise up and saying enough already. Too many years of apathy and self-centered lives have gotten us here. Blessings to you for sharing this poem with us. Thank you for your kind words on my poem. Keep on writing! Karen

Indeed, our seams are torn from our inability to provide for America's population. Tent cities springing up again, just like the bread lines. If ever there was a time to beg for God's mercy, this is it. I fear the prophecies may become self-fulfilling on the current path we take, Ronald. Very thought-provoking write! Love, Carolyn
