9 Minutes At 9 Pm
7. 9 minutes at 9 pm
Lamp to lamp, house to house
Street by street, we light hope,
9 minutes at 9 pm, we light hope,
We share our struggle like a team but with a spirit so bright, it lit up the nation with lights,
It was 9 minutes at 9 pm I saw the streets shine so bright,
I saw doctors with faces bruised, with the masks fixed to their faces 24 hours,
I saw police holding pluck cards, campaigning that they hold their life against ours, feeding the street dogs amidst this chaos,
I've seen musicians come out and play their notes to sooth our anxiety and bring a little smile,
For the first time in my life, I've seen 130 crore people cheering the warriors in a fight,
I've seen fear, I've seen unity, in just a few days, I've seen the value in a "taken for granted" reality,
I learnt that our sabzi-wala also had tons of bravery... From video calling your loved ones,
To forwarding funny jokes ;
From sharing imp news,
To publicizing your favorite recipes ;
From smiling at your neighbors when you come out to the gate,
To feeding the dogs outside ;
From big businessmen donating millions,
To college students making ventilators ;
From the anthems sung by celebrities to motivate us,
To small kids not allowing their parents go out ;
We stand strong
The future seems blur, but I know I'm not alone,
The future seems blur, but remember you're not alone,
Everytime you feel scared, just close your eyes and remember how beautiful the dark sky looked for 9 minutes at 9 pm, that night.
